Dr Miriam Grossman – US Psychiatrist Who Called Foul on Sex Educators – Visits NZ

June 26, 2012 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Press Release: Family First Lobby (25 June). Family First NZ, a charity registered with the Charities Commission, has brought a  “US Psychiatrist Who Called Foul on Sex Educators” to speak at its “Forum on the Family” on Thursday 28 June, in Auckland……

Dr Miriam Grossman is coming to New Zealand as a guest of Family First NZ and will undertake an extensive tour and media campaign. She will also be a keynote speaker at the annual Forum on the Family on Thursday 28 June. www.forumonthefamily.org.nz and is speaking to Auckland school principals and trustees at a public meeting http://www.familyfirst.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Trustee-meeting.pdf
Miriam Grossman, M.D., is a board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She attended New York University Medical School and completed her residency in psychiatry, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, through Cornell University. She writes and speaks internationally to parents, students, educators, legislators and health professionals internationally on the dangers of political correctness in her profession. She is the author of You’re Teaching My Child WHAT? A Physician Exposes the Lies of Sex Education and how they harm your child (2009) and Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness in Her Profession Endangers Every Student (2006)

Miriam Grossman, MD, psychiatrist, author, and whistle-blower has lectured at the UN Commission on the Status of Women and in Britain’s House of Lords. Dr. Grossman’s mission is to highlight the dangers of last century’s anything-goes, condom-based approach to sexual health. With examples from cutting edge research, she proves that sex is a serious matter, and can never be “casual,” especially for girls. Her politically-incorrect books and lectures provide parents with urgently needed ammunition to counter the hazardous messages that bombard young people, some of which come from trusted sources.

Instead of teaching our children biological truths, sex educators are lying to them, ignoring science in favor of radical and dangerous social agendas. Dr. Miriam Grossman will rip back the curtain on sex education today, exposing a sordid scam. She has treated more than 2,000 students at one of America’s most prestigious universities, and she’s seen how the anything-goes, women-are-just-like-men, “safer-sex” agenda is actually making our sons and daughters sick.

Auckland Council Should Reject Sky City Pokie Deal – says Family First NZ

April 26, 2012 by SPCS Leave a Comment

In a Media Release issued today, Family First NZ, a registered charity with the Charities Commission directed by Mr Trevor Garrett, is supporting the call for Auckland Council to make a stand against the SkyCity convention centre-for-pokie machines deal.

“The Local Government Act empowers Councils to provide for the social well-being of our communities. Family First is calling on the Auckland Council to oppose any law change which would allow the mass influx of more ‘mechanical pickpocket’ machines to Sky City. Casinos thrive on the false promise of getting rich quickly, but the reality is that those who can least afford to gamble are gambling themselves deeper into debt,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ. World Leading Neurosurgeon Dismisses Anti-Smacking Law

March 5, 2012 by SPCS Leave a Comment

In a Media Release issued today …. Family First NZ [a registered charity with the Charities Commission] is welcoming comments made today by an internationally renowned neurosurgeon visiting the country rejecting the anti-smacking law and labeling it as part of a ‘politically correct bandwagon’. [Family First has vigorously lobbied for some years now to have the law repealed or amended].

Dr. Ben Carson, Director of Paediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, is in Auckland to raise funds for the Starship Foundation to help rebuild their Neuroservices and Medical Specialty Wards.

When asked about smacking and NZ’s anti-smacking law on Newstalk ZB this morning, he said

“I think (smacking) is very appropriate when they’re very young and cannot reason. A smack – and I’m talking a smack and not a beating – can be very appropriate for a child who’s trying to establish themselves as the authority and doesn’t recognise where the real authority lies and doesn’t have the mental capacity to engage in intelligent conversation. And I think it’s completely wrong for people to get on their politically correct bandwagon and saying ‘you may never smack a child and if you do that that’s child abuse’.”

“Dr Carson as a paediatric neurosurgeon can understand the difference between a smack and child abuse – as can almost 90% of NZ’ers. Dr Carson speaks common sense which is sadly lacking in Parliament, but his words will be appreciated by good kiwi parents who are doing their best to raise law abiding productive members of society in a non-abusive manner,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.

Bill to ban street prostitution – registered charities disagree on bill

February 28, 2012 by SPCS Leave a Comment

A bill aimed at clearing prostitutes off the streets in trouble spots around Auckland is stirring up debate among supporters and opponents.

Family First NZ, a registered charity with the Charities Commission headed by Trevor Garrett, has been urging families around New Zealand to make submissions supporting the zoning bill to the select committee, before the deadline passes on February 29, 2012. But ECPAT Child ALERT, also a registered charity with the Charities Commission, has been opposing the bill because it believes it would not solve the problem.

The Bill, which passed its first reading last September was drafted by the Manakau City Council in response to constant complaints from the community and retailers about negative activities of prostitutes in areas such as Hunter’s Corner and Manurewa.

The Auckland council has now picked up the bill, which bans street prostitutes in specified places in the city and gives police powers of arrest.

Family First NZ has been campaigning for a ban on street prostution and also residential brothels to be eventually extended to cover all areas of New Zealand.

Nudists Should Cover up For Sake of Families – says Family First NZ

January 31, 2012 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Family First NZ, a registered charity with the Charities Commission, is calling on the Tauranga District Council to follow the lead of the Kapiti Coast District Council and pass a bylaw outlawing public nudity on the coastline.  It is also calling on the government to amend the Crimes Act and Summary Offences Act so that the precedent to allow public nudity, set in past cases by liberal judges on events such as the ‘Boobs on Bikes’, can be overturned.
