A Tauranga man with a penchant for doing his gardening in the nude has had his appeal against his convictions for offensive behaviour thrown out.
Andrew Lyle Pointon, a self-proclaimed committed naturist, was found guilty in May of two charges of offensive behaviour relating to incidents in 2012, when he was spotted by neighbours gardening or mowing lawns naked.
He was fined $650 but lodged an appeal in the High Court against his convictions on the grounds he did not receive a fair hearing in Tauranga District Court.
Pointon had represented himself but argued he had actually wanted to seek an adjournment of the District Court hearing, rather than proceed without a lawyer.
well, it serves him right, pretty simple really.
