NZX Media – Rugby World Cup exploitation by banned company director?

NZX Media: Banned company director promoting porn companies?

Very Bad News ! Media report today that New Zealand taxpayers will probably have to cover the projected $39 million loss resulting from poor sales of tickets for the Rugby World Cup venues (rumour has it that many have opted to attend a forthcoming “tacky” and “tastless” parade in Auckland, approved by the Auckland City Council,  instead of the rugby). Rugby-mad media commentators concerned about community standards are in a frenzy asking: How has this come about? Read on ……

On Friday 14 May 2010, company director Stephen (Steve) Peter Crow was served papers by the Ministry of Economic Developments (MED) banning him from directing, promoting or managing a company for four years, effective from 16 April 2010. This banning order, issued under s. 385 of the Companies Act 1993, was given high profile in the New Zealand media, e.g.

On 9 September 2010, Steve Crow’s brother, David Bruce Crow

of 418 Bedford Rd, RD6, Inglewood, was appointed director of Sidefx Ld – formerly directed by Steve Crow. Sidefx Ltd was then fully owned by CVC Group Ltd, directed by Steve Crow’s “business partner” John M. Carr CPA (see photo: http://www.carr.co.nz/images/jmc.jpg) (David Crow was director of failed Buildwise Ltd which has been in liquidation since 3 July 2009 owing several hundred thousand dollars to over 57 creditors in the Taranaki).

On 25 February 2011 Truth Publications Ltd, formerly directed by Dermott Mallet and John Andrew Pin, was struck off the Register of Companies by the Registrar. It had earlier been put into liquidation on 21 October 2009 owing over $600,000 to creditors, according to the Liquidator’s reports. The failed tabloid “Truth”, which the company published, made much of its money through advertising Adult Services (prostitution etc) and marketing hardcore porn linked to Steve Crow’s porn companies.

On 21 March 2011 the domain name NZXESCORTS.CO.NZ was registered with the New Zealand Domain Name Commission (DNC) by Dermott Malley. The registrant name was recorded as “Truth Publications Ltd” and Mr Malley recorded his name and his defunct company email as “registrant contact” and “administrative contact”. In early June the DNC was alerted to these false entries and the registrant was changed to Truth Weekender Ltd and contact details were corrected to comply with the law.

On 12 April 2011 David Crow registered on-line on the Companies Office website, the transfer of 50% of Sidefx Ltd shares held by CVC Group Ltd, to Multimedia Solutions Ltd, a company directed by Dermott Malley, Matthew William Horton and John Andrew Pin. Both Malley and Pin are directors of Truth Weekender Ltd which as noted, has the domain name nzxescorts.co.nz registered in its name.

On 3 June 2011 the name of Sidefx Ltd was changed to NZX Media.

On 5 June 2011 The NZ Herald reported that Steve Crow, a banned company director, had announced a new business venture NZX Escorts.

“One week after pleading guilty to directing a company while banned, porn magnate Steve Crow has announced a new business venture. …

“He maintained his involvement as a “marketing consultant” in the new venture did not contravene his director ban. “I’m not running it. David Crow my brother is. He’s the CEO.”

On 1 July 2011 John Andrew Pin, one of three directors in Multimedia Solutions Ltd, was appointed co-director of Sidefx Ltd to serve alongside Steve Crow’s brother David Bruce Crow.

On 25 August 2011 25 Steve Crow announced NZX BOOBS ON BIKES® would be taking to Auckland city streets on Saturday 24th September 2011 “the day the mighty All Blacks® will face France at Eden Park in what will probably be one of the showpieces of the Rugby World Cup 2011.”

“To help celebrate this momentous occasion, NZX Media (owners of NZX Weekly, NZX Magazine, NZX Escorts and, soon, NZX Dating) is sponsoring a special NZX Boobs On Bikes® parade down Auckland’s Queen Street.”

And one might well ask:

What overwhelmingly momentous professional role will the director of NZX Media play in this “tacky” and “tasteless” spectacle as one Auckland City councillor described it?

Steve elaborates in titillating detail on his EROTICAEXPO website:

“Two NZX staff, Michelle Ruebe and David Crow have been assigned to match passengers with riders/drivers etc. Unless you are associated with a particular vehicle/driver/rider please follow their instructions.”

Media commentators are asking the Ministry of Economic Development to explain why their official are not acting to enforce the law, when:

A banned director takes on prominent public role in marketing/promoting Erotica Lifestyles Expo (a business linked to Eden Digital Ltd and CVC Group Ltd), NZX Escorts (linked to Truth Weekender Ltd and NZX Media Ltd), NZX Magazine, and NZX Weekly.

Banned director, Steve Crow, is attracting world media attention in such “marketing” /promotional roles, piggey-backing on the forthcoming Rugby World Cup events in order to sensationalise his pornography businesses.

9 September 2011 Bad News ! Media report taxpayers will have to cover the projected $39 million loss resulting from poor sales of tickets for the Rugby World Cup venues (rumour has it that many have opted to attend a “tacky” and “tastless” parade in Auckland instead).
