Maurice Williamson MP: “Our own little gay icon” who voted against civil unions

April 26, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Political Report by Barry Soper (NewstalkZB) on “Motormouth Maurice Williamson” who voted against Civil Unions.

It was with a distinct lisp that John Key giggled about “our own little gay icon.”

The State Homie was of course talking about Motormouth Maurice Williamson who after years in the wilderness made an off the cuff speech about gay marriage and sealed his place the the annals of gay history.

Maurice Williamson

His four minute rant went viral with around a million hits on u Tube and he’s been boasting about how many have been listening to his dulcet tones saying he thought nothing more about it after taking his seat.

The speech itself obviously wasn’t up there with the “I Have A Dream” tub thumping oratory but the occasion itself was pretty special, giving same sex couples the right to marry. That’s why the gay community worldwide have been tuning in and it’s even come to the attention of lesbian telly talk host Ellen DeGeneres who’s invited The Motormouth to come on her show.

She’ll pick up the tab and even give him appearance money, which he’ll donate to a worthy cause just as The Home did when he looked goofy on the David Letterman Show a few years back.

But unlike Key, Williamson didn’t even have to lobby to get on the American show which his boss is happy for him to appear on if he can paint God’s Own as a liberal little country. His Minister, he says, has voted liberal on most issues, he was aware of, and seemed a little surprised when he was told that he actually voted against civil unions!

And given what he said last week it’s hard to see how he opposed the unions eight years ago when he didn’t even bother to take part in the debate.

Last week he told the grizzlies in Parliament’s bear pit that he couldn’t understand why anyone would oppose gay marriage and he railed against the bullies who tried to make him change his mind.

Motormouth Maurice declared that all they were doing in Parliament last week was allowing two people who love each other to have that love recognised by way of marriage.

How that gels with his opposition to civil unions is beyond most liberals.

Maybe the Beehive water tanks, or its air conditioning system, should be checked because some of the inhabitants are clearly suffering from the same affliction – memory fade!

Same-sex ‘marriage’: John Key on “gay” ‘marriage’, civil unions and Brad Pitt

April 14, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Shortly before the New Zealand general election on 8 November 2008, John Key, who was the then deputy leader of the opposition National Party, was asked by GayExpress Magazine whether he would “vote for civil unions if it were presented again today”. His response was “No”. GayExpress notes that he had opposed civil unions at the second reading of the Civil Union bill in 2004, along with 24 other National MPs. When asked by the GayExpress whether he would vote for “gay marriage” if it were presented today (2008), he answered “No”.

Just four and a half years later, Prime Minister John Key, along with the majority of his party, have indicated that they will be voting in support of Louisa Wall’s ‘same-sex marriage’ bill on Wednesday 17 April 2013. (Neither the National Party, nor any other party indicated in their respective election manifestos that they were intending to bring in or push for same-sex  ‘marriage’ should they become the government)

The Rt. Hon. John Key was featured in television reports on the February 2013 Big Gay Out being kissed and hugged by homosexual men and cosying up to “drag queens”. The Stuff report states:

“John Key is usually popular at the largest gay pride event in New Zealand… It was his seventh time at the event…. Key spoke to the crowd and reaffirmed his plans to vote for Labour MP Louisa Wall’s Marriage Amendment Bill, which would see same sex couples afforded the same rights of marriage as heterosexuals.”

It is noteworthy that when Key was asked by GayExpress “who would be go gay for?” … and “after taking a moment to compose himself”  – he responded:

“‘Brad Pit. Now that he’s a bit older, he’s a bit of a looker. I was going to say Tom Cruise but someone of his age shouldn’t look that age.”

Who John Key would want to have “gay” sex with is apparently of great interest to the readers of Gay Express.

Family First NZ is running a Marriage Pledge campaign calling voters not to support any political party at the next election whose leader has supported Louisa Wall’s bill that supports “gay” marriage.

Art shock ‘kills’ PM [John Key] in alley – Sunday Star Times

November 13, 2011 by SPCS 1 Comment

ARTIST SAM Mahon has painted a picture of John Key as a corpse and made it part of an interactive game on his website called, “Who killed John Key?”

Mahon, who calls himself a socialist, says he hopes the image “will simply make people curious”. He wants to “put a bunch of ‘Key crtimes’ on to one ring,” he told the Sunday Star Times.

“The painting shows Key’s body slumped against a wall in an alley with a rifled wallet beside him. A half-empty wine bottle, a rat and a half-eaten apple are among the detritus nearby.

Viewers are invited to discover Key’s “killer” by viewing 24 video clues embedded on the picture, most of which are interviews with Key taken from the web. People who guess the killer will be eligible for prizes including a Mahon cast bronze of a dying dove (
“a metaphor for dying hopes”).

Asked if he was worried that people would find the image offensive, Mahon said: “All art is expression and metaphor and the job artists have is to make people feel uncomfortable. Now once you’ve made people uncomfortable you’ve got their attention. And once you’ve got their attention you can begin to change their mind.”

The image will be put on Mahon’s website tomorrow and the names of those who guessed the killer will be posted on election day, Novemberr 26.

Comment: One of the objects of the SPCS is:

“To support responsible freedom of expression which does not injure the public good be degrading, dehumanising or demeaning individuals or classes of people.” (S. 2[f] of SPCS Constitution).

The Society contends that the vast majority of New Zealanders would consider Sam Mahon’s image of our Prime Minister John Key and its use in an “interact game” on his website, as outlined above, highly offensive. It deliberately seeks to degrade, dehumanise and demean John Key over the next few weeks leading up to the elections.
