United Nations attack on Religious Freedom – Right to Life Media Release

United Nations attack on Religious Freedom

[Media Release issued 15/02/14 by Right to Life New Zealand Inc.  Published by SPCS to stimulate discussion]

The United Nations Committee for the Convention for the Rights of the Child presented its report on the periodic review of the Holy See’s compliance with the Convention.

The audacity of those who wrote this report is breathtaking. Under the guise of addressing sexual abuse within the Catholic Church the Committee attacks religious freedom. For Right to Life this is the issue. The Committee’s report is a flagrant and egregious attack on the religious freedom of the Catholic Church, her right and obligation to uphold the dignity of the human person and the sanctity of life for every human being from conception to natural death. The Catholic Church is at the forefront at the United Nations in upholding the dignity of man and the sanctity of life. There are those who seek to silence the Church and to have her expelled from the United Nations. [Read more…]

Religious freedom & ‘gay marriage’ cannot coexist- by attorney Matt Barber

April 15, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. – Psalm 73:6

“Gay pride” necessitates anti-Christian hate. It must. “Gay marriage” and other “sexual orientation”-based laws do violence to freedom and truth. They are the hammer with which the postmodern left intends to bludgeon bloody religious liberty and the Judeo-Christian sexual ethic.

According to the unequivocal moral precepts of the Judeo-Christian tradition – explicit throughout both the Old and New Testaments – homosexual behavior is sin. Sin is evil. Homosexual behavior is the central, defining characteristic of so-called “gay marriage.” Therefore, “gay marriage” is evil. Christians are obligated to avoid sin – to “do no evil.”

I know; it’s not popular to speak such simple truths in today’s politically correct world. But I’m not out to win a popularity contest.

Most homosexuals know intuitively, I think, that their lifestyle is unnatural and immoral and that the oxymoronic notion of “same-sex marriage” is a silly farce. Thus, they must force others to affirm both their self-destructive lifestyle and their mock “marriages” under penalty of law. They must physically compel everyone to engage their “emperor’s new clothes” delusion, so they can feel better about bad behavior.

Gay marriage and preserving religious freedom for celebrants – Prof Rex Ahdar, Law Faculty, Univ. Otago

April 5, 2013 by SPCS 1 Comment

Professor Rex Ahdar, Faculty of Law, University of Otago, comments on the conscience clause inserted into section 29 of the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill by the Government Administration Committee, to protect religious liberty. He asks:

“Will all marriage celebrants be immunized?

“Will marriage celebrants who object, on the ground of religious belief or conscience, to conducting marriage ceremonies for homosexual and lesbian couples be protected in law?”
