Was Christchurch Earthquake Man-Made? – Uncensored Magazine launched by Steve Crow

The latest issue of Uncensored Magazine which was originally launched by “controversial businessman and publisher Steve Crow (best known for his popular Erotica Adult Lifestyle Expos)” back on 12 September 2005, makes the claim that the latest 6.3 magnitude Christchurch earthquake could have been man-made. The editor, Jonathan Eisen, in a posted website comment dated 25 February 2011, rather than treating this claim as absurd speculation, presents it as a REAL possibility and makes the pernicious and defamatory claim that the New World Order (NWO) bankers want NZ impoverished, and have somehow funded the “HAARP job” [High Frequency Active Auroral Research Project] that supposedly caused this earthquake and the major one that struck in September last year.

The Society believes that New Zealanders will be outraged at such nonsense being propagated via this magazine and its website. At a time of such national tragedy, the propagation of such vile conspiracy theories is reprehensible, undermines the public good and sows the seeds of confusion and discord.

Editor Eisen wrote on 24 February 2011 in what has been billed as one of the magazine’s “top stories”:

Looks like the Christchurch disaster might well be another HAARP job. What better way to totally bankrupt the country, destroy our welfare state, our social safety nets, education and health, and steal all of our remaining assets? ….. The NWO bankers want NZ impoverished, like the rest of the world, and now they’re “going for broke”.

In a veiled reference he even ties our Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. John Key, into the absurd conspiracy when he writes of the NWO: ” their banker PM is carrying out his orders. There’s a good reason they used to call him “The Smiling Assassin” in London. [see ref. 1 below for explanation of this ‘nickname’]

Clearly such accusations are defamatory and all New Zealanders would be outraged by this ridiculous ‘explanation’ of the earthquakes and their origin in a NWO plot involving John Key.Eisen urges readers to examine a named website “to see what is REALLY happening and what these HAARP installations are capable of”, adding: “These two Christchurch earthquakes are not coincidental.” (i.e they are both the direct result of HAARP installations). Eisen has posted a video clip presenting the so-called evidence supporting the conspiracy theory.

So why would well know pornography promoter Steve Crow, dubbed by the media as the “Porn King”, launch Uncensored Magazine (see ref. 2) which has gone on to publish pernicious content like this that insults the intelligence of New Zealanders and defames our Prime Minister?

The media release announcing the birth of Uncensored Magazine states:

Two of New Zealand’s most controversial people businessman and publisher Steve Crow (best known for his popular Erotica Adult Lifestyle Expos) and editor Jonathan Eisen (Suppressed Inventions and Other Discoveries) have teamed up to create New Zealand’s newest magazine UNCENSORED.

Crow describes it a serious magazine with a “mission”.

He [Steve Crow] points out what he calls the “absurdity” of NZ censorship laws in which he says there is too much subjectivity, Victorian attitudes and double standards.

As an example of the double standards, he [Crow] cites the fact that “hardcore homosexual porn is OK with our censors”, while “hardcore heterosexual porn apparently is not”. He states that “perhaps this is a direct reflection of the personal attitudes of the Chief and Deputy Chief Censors [Bill Hastings and Nicola McCully, respectively], both of whom are gay.

Another double standard, Crow says, is that the Censors are “far more tolerant of violence, rape and murder, often with a little bit of (non-explicit) sex thrown in for good measure, than they are of explicit sex, especially if there is even the slightest hint of coercion or violence”. In Crow’s words “it seems to be acceptable to our Censors [Bill Hastings and Ms Nicola McCully] to flood us with media depicting violence, no matter how extreme as long as, God forbid, we don’t show people having sex.

After the idea of outlawing “hate speech” arose last year, Crow decided that the issue of censorship went much farther than the restrictions imposed on adult entertainment; and UNCENSORED, his latest project, reflects his concerns that many forms of censorship in New Zealand are widespread.

Far be it for the Society for Promotion of Community Standards Inc. to call for Uncensored Magazine to be banned, restricted or sanctioned. Rather, the Society contends that readers of Uncensored Magazine will form their own views as to the credibility of those behind this publication and those who align themselves with it conspiracy-fuelled content.

2. A feature of Issue No. 5 of Uncensored Magazine (Quarterly: October 2006 to January 2007) is an in-depth interview with its stated “Publisher” – Porn King Steve Crow on pages 13-15. The interviewer is its editor, Jonathan Ross Eisen, who along with  Brian Coburn Jewell, were appointed founding directors of  Uncensored Publications Ltd which owns the magazine (both were appointed on 21 December 2006) . Jewell has always owned all the shares of the company. Uncensored Magazine Issue 5 ( October 2006 – Jan 2007) has a picture of Steve Crow accompanying the interview he gives and he is identified as the “Publisher” of this conspiratorial-ladden magazine.
