An American businessman, John Malcolm Carr (see photo links below), who has NZ-US dual citizenship and is a director of New Zealand companies linked to pornographer Stephen (Steve) Peter Crow, is intending to plead guilty to eight criminal charges involving breaches of the Financial Reporting Act 1993, when he faces the Auckland District Court at 10 AM on Tuesday 31 August. This is what his lawyer, Mr Alan Bevan McKay of Checketts McKay Law, Cromwell, informed the Deputy Registrar of the Court via email on Thursday 12 August, when the case was called in the Court.

The Society has filed numerous formal complaints against Mr Carr with the National Enforcement Unit of the Companies Office since last year focusing on the four companies he owns and directs: Velocity Partners Ltd, First Virtual and Nominees Ltd and PJ Digital Ltd, Shelf Company No. 10. Ltd. These companies are the subject of the eight charges brought against him by the Ministry of Economic Development (MED).
The Society alleges that multiple additional compliance breaches have been committed by Mr Carr under the Companies Act 1993 including his claimed residential address which he has listed for years as 14/31 Greenlane East, Remuera, Auckland 1050. The Companies Office has been unable to contact him or serve papers on him at this address since August last year (pers. comm. MED/NEU). The unit at this address is owned by a trust of which his lawyer Mr McKay is a trustee.
Mr John Malcolm Carr whose actual residential address (where he actually resides) is unknown, is listed in the NZ Telecom White pages under two addresses: The first is “John M Carr, 92 M Greenwood Rd, Pakiri, Warkworth Tel. 09-422-6088.” Shelf Company No 10. Ltd which he owns and directs, purchased this property on 4 October 2005 and the ANZ National Bank holds a 3 million dollar mortgage over it.
The second telecom listing is “John M Carr, 280 Cornish Point Rd, Bannockburn, Cromwell. Tel. 03-445-1609”. This property is owned by Cornish Point Development Ltd, which he owns and directs. Mr Carr resides at neither the Pakiri or Cromwell address. Both properties are commercially run as holiday retreats by managers who are presumably employees of the respective companies. Velocity Partners Ltd, owned and directed by Mr Carr, owns the two North Shore buildings in which the porn companies Eden Digital Ltd, CVC Group Ltd and HWGA Company Ltd have their registered offices. John M Carr became the sole director of the first two after pornographer Steve Crow was forced to resign following a banning order.
So where does John Malcolm Carr have his true residential address? Does he truly have a genuine residential address in the leafy Auckland suburb of Remuera?
