Bill covering insolvency practitioners advances

November 9, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

A bill that would require insolvency practitioners to be registered and meet minimum requirements has passed its second reading. Commerce Minister Craig Foss says the Insolvency Practitioners Bill will improve the integrity of New Zealand’s financial system and investor confidence. It would also give the Registrar of Companies greater power of enforcement, including the ability to deregister those who did not meet requirements.

‘SEX EDUCATION THROUGH PORN’

Rape Prevention Education works with 40 Auckland schools to promote safe and respectful physical contact through its Body Safe programme, and has encountered some worrying attitudes, she said.

Teenage boys are getting sex education through porn, most of which is heavily focused on violence against women, she said.

And many think it’s fine to have sex with teens who are under-age. In one school recently, when asked to say whether it was OK or not OK for a 14 year old to willingly have sex with a teacher, many thought it was OK, she said. “There’s a big lack of information about the age of consent.” [Read more…]

Steve Crow – NZ pornographer claims porn is not harming society – “It’s a fantasy, that’s all it is”.

November 4, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Dr Michael Flood, a senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Wollongong, is challenging the porn industry to move away from what he says are increasingly aggressive depictions of sex. He said porn was shaping social attitudes among young men, encouraging them to view women as sexual objects.

New Zealand pornographer Steve Crow said he agreed that pornography was becoming more extreme.

“But the market is demanding more and more extreme stuff. You can put the softer stuff out there, but people don’t buy it.”

Stephen (Steve) Peter Crow, a banned company director, argues that pornography was not harming society. “It’s a fantasy, that’s all it is.” [Read more…]

November 4, 2013 by SPCS Leave a Comment

Secondary School Principals’ Association president Tom Parsons said educators were frustrated by depictions of extreme sex and violence on television and in other media. “This is a real ticking timebomb.” Pornography had “no relation” to normal sexual behaviour, Mr Parsons said.
